Switches from BLMS

Picked up some cheap 3PDT switches from BitchesLoveMySwitches last week and they got here safe and sound. Looking forward to testing them out. Here is a shot of 25 out of the 50 I picked up.

Instant epic fail

When etching a face plate / name plate MAKE SURE you have your image flipped. I have been etching boards all day and when I made the face plate template in photoshop I did not have it flipped. Doesn’t work to well if you take a minute and think about it. Lesson learned.

Cave Dweller II Build

My buddy Zach wants a Double Cave Dweller so I started it today and wanted to post my progress. I am in need of a few parts to finish it up. Guess he will have to wait a bit. I’m sure it will be worth it.

Barbershop 2.0

Finally redid the barbershop overdrive pedal that started my DIY bug. I ditched the vero and etched my own board and cleaned up my wire job. Here is the results.

Here was the original one I made almost a year ago. It was such a mess, the knobs touched when turning them and the PCB was on a vero when I was just starting to learn how to solder properly. To top it all off I had no concept how to mount the PCB and I stuck it in a bag so it would not short out. Lol…

My wife chips in

I asked my wife to paint an enclosure for me and she did a beautiful layered swirl that when looked at up close, it has some great depth to it. Both her and I will be trying a few different things with enclosures and trying to figure out the method and look that suits us.

First enclosure etch

This is my first attempt to etch an enclosure. I did the toner transfer method but I did not leave it in the etching solution long enough. More to learn and I hope to try it again this weekend.

New bench tool

I just picked up a Atten ADS1062CAL and it is more than I will ever need and to tell you the truth I don’t know even the basics of using it. I have started some basic online tutorials on how to use a oscilloscope to troubleshoot electronics and to tune frequencies. I got the oscilloscope at a good price so I just look at it as another tool for this DIY adventure.
